Lover: LP Redesign

Photography II Studio  |  Fall 2024

Reimagine the photography for Taylor Swift’s album “Lover,” using composition, lighting, and color to convey its themes. Design a front and back cover, along with a booklet that expands on the album’s narrative, creating a fully cohesive visual experience.

Existing Album

Songs

Lover
explores the complexities of love, from the highs to the struggles. Songs like "The Archer" and "Afterglow" dive into raw emotions, anxieties, and the realities of love beyond its surface, while upbeat tracks like "Cruel Summer" hint at the effort relationships require.

Photography

Current photography and color palette plays on the whimsical nature of falling in love. It is also aided by the literal heart on the subject’s eye. However, it fails to represent any of the deeper themes of the album and lacks the nuanced details.

Concept & Ideating

To align with the meaning of the album, photography should feel “in the moment” and avoid feeling staged or forced.

Photography

To align with the meaning of the album, photography should feel authentic, so it is important to avoid any posing that feels staged or forced. The mood board shows the idea of being “in the moment.”

LP Design

Various images and layouts were tested for the front and back covers, narrowing to which images & typefaces worked best.

Front cover image was further refined & cropped to show closeness and connection. Typography layout was then better aligned on both sides.

LP Booklet

Additional imagery was used in a booklet to complement the colors and design of the vinyl case.
